Education & Development Program

COURSES AND INFORMATION

Why CRU?

CRU exists to support the development of authentic change that enhances the opportunities for people with disabilities to belong to community life. CRU's aims are to:

  • Encourage people to hold positive values about people with disabilities, and understand the practical implications of such values.
  • Invest in the development of leadership so that it is more likely that positive outcomes for people with disabilities are achieved.
  • Invest in the development of services and projects that reflect CRU's theory about what is most helpful to people with disabilities and their families.
  • Identify issues that assist the disability field to respond to major challenges and matters of strategic importance.

CRU Courses

CRU currently offers three types of education and training programs:

OPEN EVENTS: CRU's workshops are open to any interested service workers, people with disabilities, family members of people with disabilities, and interested community members. CRU schedules a yearly calendar of events across Queensland, often working with local communities to develop these events. Events range from half-day workshops to five day training courses. Please contact us for more information or if you would like workshops in your area.

IN-HOUSE TRAINING: CRU can modify existing courses to meet specific needs of organisations and can design courses to meet the needs of particular organisations. This work often includes values-based training events, and individual and team development.

COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT: CRU works with local communities to address issues of inclusion for people with disabilities.

CRU also conducts:

  • Conferences
  • Think Tanks
  • Leadership Programs
  • Special events involving national and international speakers
  • External service reviews
